Freehand cutting is the process of drafting out designs and directly cutting them out on the fabric. Freehand cutting involves garment construction without the use of a commercial pattern.
(i) You will draw the design on the fabric immediately in the freehand cutting technique so the whole sewing process takes less time
(ii) The designs are tailored to the model’s measurements. This ensures a perfect fit.
(i) Once you cut the fabric, you will find it difficult to make adjustments and modifications to the design, ultimately leading to fabric wastage.
(ii) In freehand cutting, you can only use the drafts for the person it was made for unlike the pattern drafting cutting technique.
